Internet Consumer Guard Verification Process

Because the ICG seal reflects to customers that a business is trustworthy and reliable - customers who will then will be encouraged to purchase from our member sites - we take our verification seriously. 

In the verification process, we perform the tasks necessary to verify that you are a credible business.  The verification process is completed utilizing a combination of technology and personal research and confirmation.  In this process, we perform the following verifications:
  1. Business entity verification.
  2. Business name verification.
  3. Business address.
  4. Business Owner/Officer name and contact information (kept confidential).
  5. Website URL verification.
  6. Business/Website Privacy Policy.
  7. Business/Website Terms and Conditions.
  8. Business contact telephone.
  9. Business contact email.



Your seal will change automatically when certain criteria are met, as noted below:


 
VERIFICATION PROCESS
During the verification process, your website seal will state that you are a member and will list your status as compliant.
   

 
AFTER VERIFICATION IS COMPLETED.
Once we have completed the verification process, which is typically completed in 24 hours, your seal will automatically change to Verified.


 
CONSUMER RECOMMENDED WEBSITE.
If your website is recommended by a set number of customers, your seal will automatically show you as a "consumer recommended" website.  The seal is changed automatically by our system once you have received the required number of recommendations set for your industry.  In addition, you must then maintain this recommended rating which is set by our system algorithms.


 
WEBSITE NEGATIVE RATING
A website seal will turn "Negative" if you fail to respond to a consumer complaint within the time provided.  If this occurs, simply file your response and your seal will automatically change back to “Verified” or “Recommended”.  The only way your business will get a “Negative” rating is if you allow it to do so.  You control the negative rating, not your customers.  As long as you are responsible and respond to complaints in a timely manner, you do not have to fear a “Negative” rating.
